Summer

Fri Jun 12, 2009, 11:39 AM
Hey Everyone!

Hope you're all having an amazing summer! I'm done with school, with plans to return in the fall. I really learned a lot this year, and currently, I'm trying to push my skills further. This summer, I've been concentrating on strengthening my skills in Adobe Flash. I'm also building my portfolio. If you are interested in a commission from me, please feel free to send me a note.

I wrote a script for a short animation yesterday. I had a major epiphany: Ideas come to me more when I write dialogue first!

Besides that, I'm really excited to finish several pieces I worked on over the school year. Concept sketches and character designs will be uploaded sometime next week, since I'm going on a road trip up north tomorrow. I'm so excited! :D There will be kite flying, picnics, and strolls along the beach, as well as several art shop stops along the way!

As for the usual literary element of my journal, there are two this time:

A magazine titled, "DigitalArts, The World's biggest creative design & technology magazine"

and the how to guide for Flash CS3 titled, "Flash CS3 Professional" by Katherine Ulrich

DigitalArts , The World's biggest creative design & technology magazine:
I may be re-reading an old issue from July 2008, but that doesn't mean it's any less interesting. This particular issue features work from graduates and encourages end of the year shows for artists. It was a really inspiring read (especially since I just ended another year at school.) It coupled many insightful program design how tos with a cd of stock photos and vector art to help you grasp the material presented step by step.

Flash CS3 by Katherine Ulrich:
It introduces you to Flash CS3 in steps. First it introduces you to the layout of the program (where the stage, timeline, etc. are), and then then it introduces you to the tools. Finally, it guides you through learning animation in the program and exploring interactivity design. Since I'm going to design a website this summer, this book is really helpful!

I recommend both of these helpful guides for those wishing to strengthen their knowledge of Adobe Programs. I'm still reading them as well, and am learning a lot from them!

Now.. off to dye my hair... :D
